Do you know what causes the majority of stress in our lives?
FEAR. Think about it.

Whether good or bad stress - it's stress all the same. Here are a few examples of why fear
is so powerful that it can paralyze us. These examples are all "fear based".
"I am too fat." (fear of not looking good)
"The wedding won't be successful."(a celebration turned stressful)
"I won't get the job."(fear of failure)
"I am feeling sick."(fear of coming down with a cold, the flu, cancer or possibly heart problems)
"I'm not a very good parent" (again, fear of failure)
Get the idea? Even positive stress situations, like the wedding, can turn into a negative stress that can be a nightmare!
Let's define fear: "afraid or feeling anxious or apprehensive about a possible or probable situation or event." We all have been there and it isn't easy DUMPING fear. But it is possible with a bit of help from your own intellect and emotion base.
The next time you feel "stressed out" - take a moment or two. There are 1440 minutes in a day. You can afford the time. Use your oxygen (see articles about breathing at
http://stress-management-magic.blogspot.com). As you slowly breathe in and out you will get
needed oxygen to you brain to think optimally. You will lower your heart rate and blood pressure.
It's not necessary to implode, or explode. The
worst that can happen has already put you in this state. The only way to be in charge is by making the
right choice in your response. With your mindful breathing and intellect sharp respond to the circumstance calmly. Your muscles will relax with the breathing, and YOU will be in control of your emotions - NOT your emotions pushing you hither and yonder!
This WORKS! It may take a
while for you to believe it. It WILL take practice to excel. But if you want to change your life and manage your stress remember: You ALWAYS have a choice in your response to stress. You are an oxygen machine. Take time to learn how to make your body and mind work FOR YOU - NOT AGAINST YOU. It will be AWESOME, I promise.
We are told we need to take tranquilizers, antidepressants, have a drink to "take the edge off", or take a break for a smoke. Guess
what? Any one of these pseudo resolves to a problem don't resolve a thing! They add to the problem, if not immediately, in the long run.
You have endorphins within you. Endorphins that make you "feel good". Endorphins that create help for pain (similar to morphine or opium.) When you treat your body and mind with as much care and respect as you would your car - your body and mind will respond with astounding results. Breathe. "Think" in more positive terms. Do all the things that will ACTUALLY help you to learn to manage your stress effectively.
As you begin to practice these things it will become easier and actually natural to you. You will find that suddenly, when a stressful situation happens, you will start breathing without thinking. You will activate all the gifts from within like a line of dominoes touching one another and falling into place.
It works. It's cheap. It's with you all the time. Just activate your
own resources, from within, by beginning with a breath. Take one
now. Now stretch, wiggle your toes, and think about all that is ok.
Everything else will fall into place as it should, when the timing is
right.
If you are really motivated, think about getting my relaxation CD. The three relaxations include all the instruction you need to give yourself a great kick start. Certainly you can afford 10 - 15 minutes for one of the relaxations. Pick and choose. Alternate.
The techniques are the best of the best and will work.
